Epic about the new ship but but but #Tholianlivesmatter lol regarding the tarantula.

P.S. Rest in peace old friend (regards to the tarantula ofc)

I miss the ship already. Nothing wrong with the Sheshar at all (on the contrary) but in light of the new Breen shipís trait the tarantula would make a terrific support de-buffer with its mesh weavers and the option for aux2bat. Doz set it up that way for her sci toon Inian.

With TW colony and the new re-engineering system around the corner the next months will surely be expensive but Iím truly considering buying another Tarantula (also) for my (sci) toon Chameleon to replace the Recluse.  We shall see but your concern is well placed here Lee.  :'(

- New Trait: Cold Hearted -

The winter event gave us another Breen ship but this time around it comes with a trait which is pretty good!

Cold-Hearted (Starship Trait)

Upon reaching Level 5 in your Breen Plesh Tral Heavy Raider [T6], you will unlock the Cold-Hearted Starship Trait. With this trait is active, activating Auxiliary Power to Emergency Battery or any Pilot Bridge Officer Ability will cause your energy weapons to afflict foes with a debuff which Slows, Drains Power, and reduces Damage Resistance Rating. This effect stacks multiple times on each foe damaged.

The trait can easily be procced with aux2bat and considering how cheap the respective cooldown mechanic via technician doffs is the whole thing becomes very lucrative for new and seasoned players alike. In teamed environments like ISA not all members are required to carry it (only 5 stacks for all) so it is more of a support option there. The moment you are on your own however it builds up fast enough to benefit you to its full potential. As soon as peeps began to use it the past weeks we could see the results on all maps we did. Game wide DPS is raising noteworthy thanks to it.

My advice to everybody who has not yet spends millions of EC for Lobi ship traits is to get that thing unlocked and installed asap. I already did on some of my toons and updated the respective builds in the OP. Tricky part for me was Chamís Recluse where I had to manage a 15 second cooldown on/with only a single aux2bat copy. I really wanted to have the trait working to its full potential on this support build and by using Peak Efficiency, three points in engineering readiness in skill tree, Chrono-Capacitor Array reputation trait and the three purple technicians doffs it works. This cooldown calculator tool was really helpful for that.

To quote Lee itís ďthe trait that makes space great againĒ so unless Cryptic chooses to trump it (thanks for that joke ussentiel) we relay got something top of the line for free for a change.

- New Ship: Crossfield-class Science Vanguard -

You can find the link to the new ship-build in the OP and by clicking on the pic in this post.

The new Star Trek show quickly managed to get me excited and when cryptic announced a respective lock box release I knew immediately I wanted something out of it. As far as the stats are concerned the new Crossfield-Class Science Vanguard is a very versatile and potent sci ship. In consideration of all the mirror stuff in the second part of the first season of the show and the fact that my sci toon Imp is supposed to be Connorís counterpart from the other side I think I found the right char to give this lock box ship to.

As a start I made a direct build transition from the mirror dread Imp had so far with only some mild changes for gear. As for the playstyle the most noteworthy difference is that I traded a single hanger for a lot more maneuverability on this ship. Like the NX for Connor I have a feeling that Iím going to stick with it for a long time as it enables a lot of different options for different situations with its two universal and specialized stations.

Impís Paradox build is archived and will no longer be updated.

- More Power Creepy Stuff of S14 -

After the Cold Hearted ship trait from last winter event ship we get some new serious stuff out of the Discovery lock box, the anniversary event ship and that in addition to a new system that lets us reroll the modifiers of our gear.

Sensor-Linked Disruptor & Phaser weapons

Every single Sensor-Linked weapon gives a permanent +2% Crit D for all your weapons on your ship by increasing the respective stat in skill tree. They are available as all kinds of different weapons types so can be easily added to all builds. DPS players begin to install them even over Coalition Disruptors which were considered to be the best PvE weapons so far. I outfitted 4 of my toons with them I am really satisfied with the results.

New personal traits

Brutal Impetus
Universal Law is for Lackeys
Context is for Kings
Duelist's Fervor

All of them feel like good choices. I already made Duelistís Fervor standard on my toons. As for the others I have to sort out first how well they work compared to the stuff I already have.

Honored Dead

This starship trait originates from the Sarcophagus Dreadnought and is therefore extremely expensive to get for KDF aligned characters. For feds on the other hand one can get it dirt cheap from the exchange. The trait has been nerfed a week after release already but still outdoes much else available. It is a strictly defensive addition but lets you abandon much else to free space for more offensive stuff. Especially for PvE tanks it is a useful addition.

Universal Console: D.O.M.I.N.O.

The universal console of the new Bajoran event ship is really powerful with the 15% increase to phaser damage only being a diversion for most. The active click power is what one is after and which is very potent for all builds, even science. Its bonus boosts all damage including the one dealt by secondary deflectors. The rest of the consoles including the allied escort vessels they ship with feel more average and donít ad much to power creep. The Promise of Ferocity and Improved Gravity Well starship traits could be interesting for those who donít have a full set of high end ship traits already though.

Mod Rerolls:

This is a pretty cool feature as it gives the option to modify the weapons of your ship to your respective needs. PvE Tac toons seem to come out best with DMG mods while Eng and Sci characters can make most out of Crit D. The epic mod can also be rerolled to CritD/DMG. Sci gear can be directed more into the direction one likes to have it. All prices on the exchange got shaken as results as stuff which has been too far out of price reach suddenly can be afforded and rerolled. This is particularly cool for expensive but effective lock box weapons like Coalition Disruptors, Delphic Antiprotons, Corrosive Plasma or the new Sensor-Linked Disruptors and Phasers.

While it is not easy to sort out what of the new stuff leads to what results the combined benefit is more than obvious. Together with the influence of cold hearted I think I easily look at an average DPS increase of roughly 20% this season on my toons. With 168k DPS in a pug run Neela even made it back to Diamond DPS with Telora at 159k in hot pursuit.
