Epic about the new ship but but but #Tholianlivesmatter lol regarding the tarantula.

P.S. Rest in peace old friend (regards to the tarantula ofc)

I miss the ship already. Nothing wrong with the Sheshar at all (on the contrary) but in light of the new Breen ship’s trait the tarantula would make a terrific support de-buffer with its mesh weavers and the option for aux2bat. Doz set it up that way for her sci toon Inian.

With TW colony and the new re-engineering system around the corner the next months will surely be expensive but I’m truly considering buying another Tarantula (also) for my (sci) toon Chameleon to replace the Recluse.  We shall see but your concern is well placed here Lee.  :'(

- New Trait: Cold Hearted -

The winter event gave us another Breen ship but this time around it comes with a trait which is pretty good!

Cold-Hearted (Starship Trait)

Upon reaching Level 5 in your Breen Plesh Tral Heavy Raider [T6], you will unlock the Cold-Hearted Starship Trait. With this trait is active, activating Auxiliary Power to Emergency Battery or any Pilot Bridge Officer Ability will cause your energy weapons to afflict foes with a debuff which Slows, Drains Power, and reduces Damage Resistance Rating. This effect stacks multiple times on each foe damaged.

The trait can easily be procced with aux2bat and considering how cheap the respective cooldown mechanic via technician doffs is the whole thing becomes very lucrative for new and seasoned players alike. In teamed environments like ISA not all members are required to carry it (only 5 stacks for all) so it is more of a support option there. The moment you are on your own however it builds up fast enough to benefit you to its full potential. As soon as peeps began to use it the past weeks we could see the results on all maps we did. Game wide DPS is raising noteworthy thanks to it.

My advice to everybody who has not yet spends millions of EC for Lobi ship traits is to get that thing unlocked and installed asap. I already did on some of my toons and updated the respective builds in the OP. Tricky part for me was Cham’s Recluse where I had to manage a 15 second cooldown on/with only a single aux2bat copy. I really wanted to have the trait working to its full potential on this support build and by using Peak Efficiency, three points in engineering readiness in skill tree, Chrono-Capacitor Array reputation trait and the three purple technicians doffs it works. This cooldown calculator tool was really helpful for that.

To quote Lee it’s “the trait that makes space great again” so unless Cryptic chooses to trump it (thanks for that joke ussentiel) we relay got something top of the line for free for a change.

- New Ship: Crossfield-class Science Vanguard -

You can find the link to the new ship-build in the OP and by clicking on the pic in this post.

The new Star Trek show quickly managed to get me excited and when cryptic announced a respective lock box release I knew immediately I wanted something out of it. As far as the stats are concerned the new Crossfield-Class Science Vanguard is a very versatile and potent sci ship. In consideration of all the mirror stuff in the second part of the first season of the show and the fact that my sci toon Imp is supposed to be Connor’s counterpart from the other side I think I found the right char to give this lock box ship to.

As a start I made a direct build transition from the mirror dread Imp had so far with only some mild changes for gear. As for the playstyle the most noteworthy difference is that I traded a single hanger for a lot more maneuverability on this ship. Like the NX for Connor I have a feeling that I’m going to stick with it for a long time as it enables a lot of different options for different situations with its two universal and specialized stations.

Imp’s Paradox build is archived and will no longer be updated.

- More Power Creepy Stuff of S14 -

After the Cold Hearted ship trait from last winter event ship we get some new serious stuff out of the Discovery lock box, the anniversary event ship and that in addition to a new system that lets us reroll the modifiers of our gear.

Sensor-Linked Disruptor & Phaser weapons

Every single Sensor-Linked weapon gives a permanent +2% Crit D for all your weapons on your ship by increasing the respective stat in skill tree. They are available as all kinds of different weapons types so can be easily added to all builds. DPS players begin to install them even over Coalition Disruptors which were considered to be the best PvE weapons so far. I outfitted 4 of my toons with them I am really satisfied with the results.

New personal traits

Brutal Impetus
Universal Law is for Lackeys
Context is for Kings
Duelist's Fervor

All of them feel like good choices. I already made Duelist’s Fervor standard on my toons. As for the others I have to sort out first how well they work compared to the stuff I already have.

Honored Dead

This starship trait originates from the Sarcophagus Dreadnought and is therefore extremely expensive to get for KDF aligned characters. For feds on the other hand one can get it dirt cheap from the exchange. The trait has been nerfed a week after release already but still outdoes much else available. It is a strictly defensive addition but lets you abandon much else to free space for more offensive stuff. Especially for PvE tanks it is a useful addition.

Universal Console: D.O.M.I.N.O.

The universal console of the new Bajoran event ship is really powerful with the 15% increase to phaser damage only being a diversion for most. The active click power is what one is after and which is very potent for all builds, even science. Its bonus boosts all damage including the one dealt by secondary deflectors. The rest of the consoles including the allied escort vessels they ship with feel more average and don’t ad much to power creep. The Promise of Ferocity and Improved Gravity Well starship traits could be interesting for those who don’t have a full set of high end ship traits already though.

Mod Rerolls:

This is a pretty cool feature as it gives the option to modify the weapons of your ship to your respective needs. PvE Tac toons seem to come out best with DMG mods while Eng and Sci characters can make most out of Crit D. The epic mod can also be rerolled to CritD/DMG. Sci gear can be directed more into the direction one likes to have it. All prices on the exchange got shaken as results as stuff which has been too far out of price reach suddenly can be afforded and rerolled. This is particularly cool for expensive but effective lock box weapons like Coalition Disruptors, Delphic Antiprotons, Corrosive Plasma or the new Sensor-Linked Disruptors and Phasers.

While it is not easy to sort out what of the new stuff leads to what results the combined benefit is more than obvious. Together with the influence of cold hearted I think I easily look at an average DPS increase of roughly 20% this season on my toons. With 168k DPS in a pug run Neela even made it back to Diamond DPS with Telora at 159k in hot pursuit.

Ok, need advice on two toon setups.

Liz Archer - science officer
she has the new well t6 ship..
I want obviosuly keep the temporal aspect of her build.. as she is my temporal agent. I took a picture of her ground and space sets. Hope its ok.

Neyhla.. my tactical andorian..
She has the new t6 andorian ships. I am a little uncertain what to use on her.. I want to have andoiran like weapons.. I currently using the nukara space sets.. was thinking of maybe using the All Diffusive Tetryon weapons on her. They look cool and might work with andorian toon...

Hey Liz, thx for posting and sharing.

Some more info I need. Great strength in PvE comes from a mono-directional approach in PvE as far as the build is concerned. One is best off to select one thing (Cannons, Beams, Exotics, Torpedos) and emphasizes the entire build around it. While picking 2 of them at the same time is already a limitation I know it is much more fun but more than that sadly leads to problems.

As far as your sci on a sci ship is concerned I see three options that haven been proven in the past for pve.

- Pure EPG
- EPG/Energy weapon mix
- EPG/torpedo mix

Which one of those you like to aim for? In the Opening post you could look up Imp & Zarlotte. Both go with EPG/Energy mix and were able to get around 100k DPS as scis in ISA & 150k+ in CCA.

As far as your Andorian escort is concerned best options that come to mind would be energy builds.

Here we have:

- Dual Beam Banks
- Cannons
- Arrays

For Cannons I’d take Neela (213k DPS in ISA tops) and Connor as blueprint. For Beams I’d take Peter or Telora (Dual).

First one would be just to decide what playstyle appeals more to you.  :)

Thank you Connor,

Tough questions,..

I like themes, when it comes to my characters, as you may know.. so anything that is still temporal based for Liz would be cool. She is my temporal agent with all the temporal ships.

so I guess pure EPG ...or maybe energy based?

For my andorian, Im thinking arrays.. but I wouldn't mind cannons since I usually go with arrays normally. I like to use Andorians weapons.. =) .. but i also really like new thenketi cannons (or is it beams?). They look very cool.. very cold bolts of energy flying through space... I might do another Andorian with either thenkethi weapons or andorian ones depending on what this andorian will use, .. migh as well use a beam ship for an andorian =).. now that this toon has t6 andorian escorts. Hate to have a ship in spacedock not being used, ..

One thing, I am very bad at always having the ship front being directed ahead of a target,.. i normally like to be able to shoot at any angle. But i guess that is something u can work on..

I guess u can't mix cannons and arrays?

Again, thank you! Look forward to your inputs, ...

Hey Liz,  :)

for your sci toon on the temporal ship I’d go with EPG then. Key consoles here are

- https://sto.gamepedia.com/Particle_Focuser_Science_Consoles (the ones with much EPG and a bit of Control X)
- https://sto.gamepedia.com/Console_-_Universal_-_Constriction_Anchor

to make your sci attacks potent.

Another important pice of gear would be a Strategic Deteriorating Secondary Deflector from lab. I’d pick one with [SA+DMG].

For your boff powers I recommend the stuff Zarlotte uses, please look it up in the build link in OP.

For sci boff power cooldown reduction there are 2 options for Sci builds that I see. The cheap one would be to use the “all hands on deck” starship trait. It’s from the tac command cruiser and sees to cooldown of sci boff powers when you use tac boff powers. The more expensive alternative is a trait from the herald dreadnought is called “peak efficiency” which works really good.

As far as the tac toon is concerned, aux2bat builds are back big time in light of the “cold hearted” ship trait from last year's free breen ship. The respective Doffs are cheap to get. My suggestion here is to simply copy the layouts of Peter and Telora as best as you can on your andorian ship. On Telora I also wanted some kind of andorian theme. With the blue sensor linked phasers I found what I wanted. If they are not too expensive for you I’d give them a shot as well. Otherwise andorian phasers will get the job done too of course. Here it's mostly about to get good boff powers like AP Beta 3, EmPower to Weapons 3 and especially FAW 3 and cycle them with auix2bat.

- Power Creepy Stuff of ViL -

New expansion just hit right along with a new lock box. Like usual I try to filter out the good parts which can be used to enhance our characters.

Level cap increase to Lvl. 65:

Noteworthy additions are new captain’s abilities at rank 63:

Vulnerability Assessment Sweep (tac)
Intrusive Energy Redirection (eng)
Co-opt Energy Weapons (sci)

They are not very powerful but considering they are for free there is no reason not to utilize them.

Gear upgrades to MKVI:

Now that is a considerable increase. A discussion how much one gains by upgrading can be found here and seen in the following graph:

Jem’Hadar playable characters and Bridge Officer:

Regular Jem’Hadar have the ground trait Engineered Soldier while Vanguard Jem’Hadar get in addition to that a weaker version of this trait for space granting +1% Crit H and +2,5% Crit D ship wide. Those of you who bought the vanguard pack can use one of the boffs with space traits for each of the three careers. Compared to other boffs with good space traits the new Vanguard should line up as follows:

Superior Romulan Operative > Jem’Hadar Vanguard (3) > Kentari (1) > Hireachy (1) > Nausicaan > Humans & Saurians

Epic duty officer from Gamma recruitment:

The top reward for the Doffing tasks is a new warfare specialist granting +20% more dmg vs. all pve foes. Nice part is that one seem sto be able to slot him on ground while he ads his benefits to space.

Spiral Wave Disruptors

The refurbished Cardie weapons seem to be the new top guns for min/mixer.

That’s it for now, see you out there.

- New Ship: Jem’Hadar Vanguard Warship -

You can find the link to the new ship-build in the OP and by clicking on the pic in this post.

This has been a long time coming but I have decided to dry-dock my most favorite starship, the JHSS, on my again favorite space toon Neela. Reason is the new Jem’Hadar Vanguard Warship which is simply put superb. It cuts perfectly into the current aux2bat meta and offers a lt. commander miracle worker slot whose slotted boff abilities can easily be CDed with aux2bat. Fife front weapons and, as a warship, eight gun ports in sum round up this vessel for the cannon build I transferred from the JHSS. I was worried a bit about the lack of a gravity well I got accustomed to on my cannon builds but most critters simply melt so fast by now that it is worth to consider going without one.

While the link shows my primary PvE approach on the Warship I use a slightly different layout for HSE. Besides a bit more heals and defenses I integrate Cannon: Rapid Fire II in addition to Cannon: Scatter Volley III there which, thanks to aux2bat, gives me the option to select which one is best to use in the respective situation. (Diamond and uni ships for example get better attacked by Rapid Fire). My JHSS lives on in form of the “Go for the Kill” starship trait that way.

Neela’s JHSS build is archived for now and will no longer be updated.

- Jem’Hadar Warship build proposal for the STO-League. -

I got another chance to publish an article on one of my builds on the STO/DPS league HP. This time its Neela’s turn with her HSE setup on her new Vanguard Warship. It’s linked to the icon of the league's banner. Be advised that I only take such a setup on my HSE runs in Diamond. Regular teammates there are felisean, hellspawny, flocki, marcus, soludor & lordcruncher. All of us go in with threat turned to on. On lower DPS runs with fleet mates or pugs I much more prefer my tank or crowd control based builds in HSE as displayed in the OP.
